Character animations done for the mobile RPG rhythm game Valz (iOS)
by Klappanome Studio where I worked as the main animator for 3-4 years.
These animations are used for skill cut-ins.

The graphics are done by our Illustrator.
I am tasked with splitting, rigging and animating his stylish, grungy illustration which was a very interesting and exciting challenge.

I initially used After Effects and apply the animation in Unity as a spritesheet,
but in the later assets and cutscenes I have learned to do the animation in-engine within Unity.
​
Most of the animation is done with skeletal animation in AfterEffects, however some morphing is also used for effects such as slight angle shift and facial expression.

Additionally, I also animate every cutscene in the game, that also require some character animation. All the animation and cutscenes I have done applied within the game can be seen in this trailer of the game :

Below are the animations I done for the cutscene for the characters activating their instrumental powers. The special effects are also done in painterly brush stroke style to match with the illustrator's art style.
